The Nigerian Ambassador to the US, Prof. Ade Adefuye, said that the Ministers would arrive at Washington on September 20, to further underscore the positive changes the government had made.

He disclosed that Jonathan will meet with key industry players in agriculture, power and infrastructure during his visit. Adefuye added that investors would be provided with information on the steps that the government had taken so far to attract foreign investments.

The ministerial delegation includes Minister for Trade, Industry and Investment, Segun Aganga; Minister for Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke; Ag. Minister for Foreign Affairs, Prof. Viola Onwuliri; and Director-General, Nigeria Stock Exchange, Arunma Oteh.

Lightning Strikes Ancient Church.

 Lightning struck the ancient Grade I listed St Nicholas Chapel on Friday night, smashing three of the dome's glass panels and damaging the electrics. St Nicholas Chapel, built on Lantern Hill, Ilfracombe, Devon, in the 14th Century, has been used as a lighthouse for hundreds of years.

Its navigation light has since been replaced and the chapel reopened. The moment the lightning strike hit the chapel was caught on camera by Ilfracombe resident Jason Twist.

"The storm was very impressive, so I grabbed my camera and started snapping about 500 photos," he said. "My house overlooks the harbour so I was in the right place at the right time.

But with millions of tweets being sent to their account everyday, the group very likely did not spot the message and it went ignored. Several days later, she wrote directly to band member Liam Payne on the social networking site to say: 'I love you. Follow me. My dog has just died.' She added a picture that she claimed showed her crying as she cradled a dead dog, it was reported by the New York Daily News.
Some believe her story is a hoax.

James Bond’s ‘Spy Who Loved me’ Submarine Car On sale In London

The white Lotus Esprit, which transformed into a submarine in the 1977 movie starring Roger Moore as 007, was expected to sell for up to 950,000 pounds ($1.48 million).

Known as “Wet Nellie” on the set of the film, the fully operational submarine car was among the contents of a storage unit in Long Island, New York, which was bought by a couple in a “blind” public auction in 1989.
Although six Esprit body shells were used in filming, only one was converted into a “submarine car,” RM Auctions said. The car was placed in a prepaid storage unit for 10 years after filming. The contents of storage unit were sold sight unseen in 1989 when rental payments for the unit fell into delinquency.

Prince William is leaving the Armed Forces after more than seven years of full-time military service. William carried out his last shift on Tuesday and is now working towards expanding his core charitable interests particularly in the field of conservation of endangered species.

The Duke will continue to carry out royal engagements but is not expected to increase his number of public duties.  The second in line to the throne is in a "transitional" year, sources have said, and is considering options for his "public service". An announcement will be made about his decision within the next 12 months.

Airports Gets New Security Equipments.

According to Yakubu Dati, FAAN’s image maker, “The Authority has already installed seven brand new X-ray scanning machines at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, five at the cargo basement of the international terminal, one at the Hajj and Cargo terminal and another at the airport’s domestic terminal 1.”

Mr Dati said all the other airports in the country will also benefit from the installation of these new scanning machines.

First of all because the equipment is complex, it includes cargo screening machines, carry-on screening machines, hand-held metal detectors, 3-D body scanners, hold baggage screening machines and walk-through metal detectors.

Lagos Police Arrests Four Cows.

Four cows and 37 butchers have been arrested by for operating at an illegal slaughter slab at Otto Awori area of Badagry, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

Officials of the Lagos State Government (the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives) in conjunction with the police taskforce have arrested stormed the area on Tuesday and arrested the cows and suspects.

The four cows were taken to Agege Abattoir, while four vans of butchered meat were carted away to the Taskforce office at Alausa where the suspects would be arraigned in court.

Adewunmi Olaseun, chairman of the illegal butchers, said they normally slaughter about 20 cows on daily basis, while paying N18,000 levy to officials of the Lagos State Government and N5,000 to the Otto Awori Local Council Development Area, LCDA, on weekly basis.

He said the association did not know that they were operating at an illegal slaughter slab.

According to Olaseun, the meat being sold by the butchers was not contaminated, stressing that “the fact is that we also consume the meat at times.

So, there is nothing wrong with the meat. We consume it. Our wives also consume it, so it is safe for consumption.

We have the receipts of the payment made to the government in our office.”

When asked why they attacked government officials with arms, he said: “The arms on us were to protect us against armed robbers.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has fixed 18 September to decide either to relist or not Jay-Jay Okocha Group West Africa Limited in a petition filed against the former captain of the Super Eagles, Okocha Austin Azuka a.k.a Jay-Jay Okocha and his wife Nkechi Okocha.

Also joined as co-defendant is a limited liability company; Jay-Jay Okocha Group West Africa Limited, jointly formed by the former footballer and six other shareholders namely; Friday Nwankero-Kuja, Ijeoma Kuja, Nwankwo-Kuja, James Chinedu, Nwankwo Kuja Daniel Chukwudi, Nwankwo Kuja Mary Chioma.

Two other companies Africa Shelter Sports Consultant Limited, Friday Nwankwo and Sons Limited are also petitioners in the impending legal hostility.

In an affidavit sworn to by a Director and shareholder of Jay-Jay Okocha Group West Africa Limited, Friday Nwankwo Kuja, and filed before the Court by a Lagos Lawyer, Barrister Caleb Rotimi Oyekola, the petitioners who claimed to be shareholders of the company which was incorporated to arrange, organise, finance and present sporting events, alleged that Okocha and his wife, Nkechi, who are the Chairman and Managing Directors of the company respectively are conducting the affairs of the company in an illegal and oppressive manner.

Mr. Kuja alleged further that at the formative stage of the company located at 46, Saka Tinubu Street, Victoria Island, he expended a total sum of N63m, while he was performing his duties as the Executive Director in the affairs of the company diligently and productively. He said he and other shareholders have now been sidelined.

A man has been arrested after allegedly confessing to exposing hundreds of former lovers to HIV.
Reports say David Lee Mangum had unprotected s3x with around 300 people without telling them he had tested positive to the deadly virus.


Police detained the 36-year-old, from Dexter, Missouri, after his former gay lover, who he met through a Craigslist advert, contracted the disease in July.
Shortly after their brief relationship ended, the alleged victim received a phone call from one of David's former roommates alerting him to the fact David had tested positive for HIV in 2003.

Teachers In Edo State Who Can't Read.

You know how they say; Teachers are the building blocks. Well, in this case, I fear it's the reverse. The Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole paid an unscheduled visit to the State Staff Training Centre regarding the newly enacted constitution "Verification of certificates of primary school teachers in the southern Nigerian state of Edo" and it has begun to yield startling results, with the discovery of a female teacher who could not read a sworn affidavit tendered with her documents.
